My Family's Fall Bucket List

My Family's Fall Bucket List

Are you ready for pumpkin spice and everything nice?  Although I am not a lover of anything pumpkin spice, I am so excited for the Fall season. That's right, Fall is coming, Fall is coming, Fall is coming! Can you tell that it's my favorite time of the year? The weather is gorgeous, fashion inspo is so bomb and there are so many different activities to take part in during this season.   Summertime in New Orleans almost took me out. No lie, to say it was hot is an understatement. That heat brought out the introvert in me. I didn't want to do anything at all, especially if it involved me being outside. This Fall is a different story though. My kids will be a little happier because we get to go outdoors. With the weather being nice we can attend outdoor events. Wooohooo! I asked my family what are some things they wanted to do and came up with a few of my own and now it's on and popping.  I present to you our Fall family bucket list. We are going to TRY and do everything on this list this Fall. Notice I said try. I've included a PDF that you can download with all the activities so you can join in on the fun. Yay! to fun all Fall long!

1. Festival Time

New Orleans has a plethora of FREE festivals this Fall. Free activities for the family are my absolute favorite.  So this Fall, we are going to attend the National Fried Chicken Festival. Which actually takes place this weekend. I mean why would we miss that fried piece of heaven right? With all the fuss over Popeye's and Chic-fil-a, I'm on the hunt for a good chicken sandwich. There's also the Beignet festival, the Oak Street Po Boy Festival, and also the Treme Fall Fest. It is our goal to hit up all of these and possibly a few more.  For a list of all the Fall festivals New Orleans has to offer tap here .

2. Halloween Fun

It's time for some spooky fun. We plan to indulge in all the Halloween fun this year. To start off the Halloween festivities we will be attending Heavenly Sweets Bakery's “BOO AT THE BAKERY.” I can not wait to attend. From what I hear it'll be a bakery “gone mad,” with so many fun activities for the kids. I'm really excited to attend.  For more info or to purchase your tickets visit http://heavenlysweetsbakeryllc.com/ My family always makes an event out of Halloween costume shopping. For one, my son never knows what costume he wants, so ordering it online is a no. We end up having a full on fashion show with my son as the lead model. This year he says he wants to be a wolf, but we shall see. My daughter keeps yelling Minnie Mouse, so I guess shopping this year will be easy for her. Trick or treating is definitely on the list. What is Halloween without trick or treating? We have a safe neighborhood we go to each year and we haven't been disappointed yet, so this year we'll do it again!

3. Attend a Fair

Since I was a little girl, I always loved going to the Franklinton Fair in Franklinton, LA.  Every year my mom would take my little sister and I. We had a blast every year. This year I plan to take my family to enjoy all the fun I experienced as a child.  I hope my kids enjoy it as much as I did as a child. I mean ferris wheels, funnel cakes, cotton candy and much more. Who could resist?

4. Outdoor Adventures

With the beautiful weather that Fall brings, outdoor adventures are a must.  On our bucket list this Fall is attending the Audubon Zoo, Picnicking in City Park and we are absolutely hitting up a pumpkin patch or two.  Mrs. Heather's Pumpkin Patch in Hammond, La is my son's favorite and this will be our first year attending as a family. I'm really excited about this, especially for my two year old.

5. Black and Gold to the Super Bowl

GERALD AT THE SAINTS GAME

My family is a New Orleans Saints family.  We bleed black and gold. WHO DAT is a term of endearment for us.  Fall is football season and being that we are die hards, I'm adding attending a Saints football game onto our list.  If we can't make it to a game, we will definitely have to tailgate atleast one game.

6. Family Movie Nights

My husband is a tv man and my children are following suit.  My husband and I love to tell our kids all about our childhood favorites, so of course we definitely will be watching all our favorite fall movies.  Hocus Pocus will definitely be on that list. Popcorn, hot chocolate and warm cookies will be on the menu as we snuggle up as a family in front of the television.

7. DIY Pumpkin Crafts

I already told you we will be hitting up the pumpkin patch and if you've ever attended one then you know that you get to take home your favorite pumpkin from the patch.  Well at our home we love to paint our pumpkins. So on our fall bucket list we must add DIY pumpkin crafts! I love encouraging my kid's creativity and this is such a great way to do so.

8. Attend Defy

Family outings for our family are just as important as date nights for my husband and I. One of our favorite places to attend is Defy New Orleans. It is important to step away from the electronics and get up and out. At Defy we can all get active for atleast an hour, which is very important to us. This also stops my kids from jumping on and off my sofa. At Defy they can jump on actual trampolines. (LOL) Defy is the perfect outing for family days. It is kid friendly and adult friendly. My husband and I forget that we aren't kids anymore when we're there. Get up and jump this Fall at Defy New Orleans.

9. Thanksgiving Dinner

Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays.  It was one of the only holidays my family really spent together. Thanksgiving 2012 was the last holiday I spent with my mom before she passed.  So every Thanksgiving we try to travel to Mississippi and spend time with our relatives. So on our bucket list this year is just that, eating a good Thanksgiving dinner with our family. Maybe I'll even cook a dish this year.

I pray this season of Fall is a good one for you.  My family and I are getting to this list ASAP. What are your plans for Fall?
